Welcome Parents to the 2010-2011 school year!  I hope everyone had a relaxing summer and that you are as ready as I am to kick off another great year at Woodland Elementary. 

If you are new to the school, the Woodland PTO extends a warm welcome to all of you.  We want you to know that the PTO is here to answer your questions and help you get involved with the many volunteer opportunities at our school. 

To all of our returning families, the PTO would like to say THANK YOU for all of your hard work last year.  Whether you volunteered your time, sent in donations for parties and/or events, or worked on a committee, your participation was greatly appreciated.  Our success is 100% due to the commitment and dedication of our volunteers. 

 The PTO will be very busy this fall hosting our major fundraising event, our very first walk-a-thon.  The walk-a-thon will be called the Bobcat Prowl, and it will be held during the school day on October 1.   Our kick-off will be held on September 2.  At that time, we will be sending home lots of details about the event.  Please contact Christy Schuessler (514-1327) or Andrea Miracle (692-6747) with any questions or offers of help.  If we meet our fundraising goal, this fundraiser will provide over 75% of our total PTO budget for the school year.  We truly appreciate the help and support we get from Woodland families on this effort.  We are hoping it will be a great way to raise money while promoting fitness, fun and school spirit!

 Also, please take the opportunity in September to order your Woodland School Spiritwear.  We have updated the logo this year, and the order forms will be sent home soon. Please contact Kim Bridges (304-4244) or Julie Smith (288-3307) if you have any questions.

I also want to extend a big thank you to all the volunteers who have been working to help our school year get off to a terrific start, especially Laura Dietzen for organizing our efforts at Woodland Registration, Vicky Lammert for distributing the SchoolKidz school supply kits, and Suzi Gaskill for serving a wonderful Staff Appreciation Luncheon on the first day of school.  We are fortunate to have so many wonderful parent volunteers supporting our school! 

 Again, let me say welcome to the Woodland PTO!  It is going to be an exciting year at Woodland School.  Please feel free to call me with any questions, offers to volunteer, concerns or comments.    I look forward to meeting you and hope to see many of you at our monthly PTO meetings.  Our first meeting will be on Wednesday, September 1^st  @ 7:00pm in the Media Center.  See you there!
