The Reason the Spanish Traveled to “The New World” is because they were trying to find treasure. This is like B.P. and the gulf coast oil spill but, it only took B.P. 1 try to mess up and make the disaster, as it took the Spanish a few attempts, with Pizzaro, Cortes, and Landa. They are almost the same because; they were both all about greed and wanting of treasure. Another reason is because; they both affect the future a lot, because now we don’t know as much as we should from when Mayas, Incas and Aztecs and later on we probably won’t have as many animals in the coast and there will be an oil slick for a very long time.

Aztecs were great engineers and had many great accomplishments. One of there biggest accomplishments were their capital city; Tenochitlan. This was an entire city they built, but the most amazing fact about it was that it was an entire Island they built themselves, made of tree trunks and mud. The idea to make it out of mud made it very good farmland. Moctezuma, believed to be a great leader, ruled the Aztecs. Moctezuma was probably one of the best leaders of that entire century. Later on Cortes was sent by Spain in search of treasure. The Aztecs thought of Cortes as a once living god called Quetzalcoatl that promised to return and rule the Aztecs. Another reason they thought that he was a god is because they had never seen horses so they thought they were hornless deer. Then after almost no luck Cortes somehow convinced Moctezuma to surrender to Spain. A little while after the peace was gone as some Spanish killed some Aztecs and it turned into a major war. Cortes and his army barely escaped, but Moctezuma was killed. The reason Cortes was able to beat the Aztecs with only 500 soldiers with him is because he had allies come and surround the city of Tenochitlan. During the war, important soldiers dressed as either eagles or jaguars. Today the Aztec ruins still remain leaving some questions a mystery today.

The Incas were another tribe attacked by the Spanish, but they were lucky enough to have one city untouched and not destroyed by the Spanish; Machu Pichu. The Incas were also great engineers and were also very smart. They had there own counting system called quipus, which was a knotted string that they tied knots into.  The Incas lived in the country of Peru in the Andes Mountains. Inca, meaning children of the sun, worshipped many gods, but mainly sun and animal gods. The Incas were very successful because they had 19,000 miles of roads over their territory. This allowed them to transport water and many other things. Another very intelligent thing was how they knew how to farm on and build terraces. Since this was made of earth they weren’t sure how they made sure that it didn’t flood. After investigating they found that they used layers of rocks, soils and sand so that if it stormed that their terraces didn’t erode, and they used that as their own draining system. They also built giant bridges made entirely out of grass that people can still walk on today. They made it by twisting the grass  to make a strong material that can support lots of weight.
