All About Us I would like to use this page to tell you about several important aspects of my classroom. There is only one rule: Do not engage in any behavior that interferes with anyone's learning; including your own. Because communication between the school and home is vital to the success of any student, our web page will be used extensively. Each student will be posting their work, pictures, videos, and research on individual web sites. Turning in work There are no homework trays. Each student has three folders. The green folder is for completed assignments and extra credit for Canada Cash. The yellow folder is for work in progress. The red folder is for homework. When it is time to grade, I sit with each student and their green folder. In this way we can conference about any assignment or project. Students then can have the opportunity to take suggestions and improve their work or accept their grade. Absences, Late, & Missing Work During the school year we will be working on multiple projects simultaneously. Each project and almost every assignment will require specific instruction. It is for this reason that most work will be started at school. Missing work due to absences will be prioritized and worked on at school. If necessary, the work can be finished at home. Late and missing work due to other reasons can result in loss of conduct slips (see below). Canada Cash Canada Cash is currency used to motivate and reward student for behavior, hard work, leadership, citizenship, character, and initiative. Once each month there will be a "pizza day". Should a student have $100 in Canada Cash, they may purchase the opportunity to have a special lunch in the classroom with their friends. $100 will purchase 2 slices of Dominoes pizza and one soda. Behavior
The Conduct Tracker is a tool intended to help monitor student behavior. The beginning of every week starts with all students having 3 slips in their pockets. Students conducting themselves inappropriately will have a slip removed from their pocket. Students that lose all 3 slips during the week will receive an after-school detention. Homework assignments are updated daily on our web site and displayed for the class to copy in their planners. Web pages containing samples of students' work and current projects can be viewed by clicking on the links to the left. Also, videos of student work can be viewed on teachertube.com. Click on videos. Then click on recently added. Look for postings from user name: mrcanada. All of these systems and tools are designed to maintain an open line of communication between the teacher, student, and the home. Should you have any question, do not hesitate to email or call.
