Abstract in 60 minutes

After calculating the area of rectangles and parallelograms on grid paper, we decided to calculate areas on a larger scale.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

We found out that we could use a meter stick or count the tiles (each one is 1 square foot!) to calculate the area of the shapes.

 

 

Mrs. Toth uses her clipboard to assess the student's understanding of how to calculate the area of irregular shapes.
