The district employs over 1,000 employees, approximately 600 of whom are certified personnel, District 7 is the third largest employer in the Edwardsville area. District 7, along with Southern Illinois University, helps make education the city’s number one source of employment.

District 7’s personnel policy is to hire superior staff members - the very best available for that particular position. Our teachers rank far above state averages in the amount of experience and the level of education. Professional growth is a continuous process stimulated by a variety of in-service opportunities for both teachers and support staff.



District 7 will host a substitute teacher training meeting for those individuals interested in becoming a substitute teacher for the 2017-2018 school year. In order to be eligible for placement on District 7’s substitute teacher list you must:

  1. Attend a 2 hour Substitute Teacher Training with Dr. Nancy Spina
  2. Complete the required application paperwork packet (available in the Personnel office)

Your attendance is entirely voluntary and without compensation, but is required in order to meet the eligibility requirements to be placed on the active substitute teacher list. Any questions, please call Carey at 655-6004.

You may attend the training even if your required paperwork is NOT complete.
