A Message from Superintendent Dr. Lynda Andre
It is both an honor and a privilege to serve as District 7’s new Superintendent of Schools. Edwardsville District 7 is without question one of the premier school districts in the St. Louis metropolitan area and the State of Illinois. As Superintendent, I pledge to continue the tradition of academic excellence in the education we provide for all children, a tradition that has been the hallmark of this school district for its more than 150 years as an educational institution.
As a long-time resident of Edwardsville, my husband and I have raised our family in this extraordinary community, and our four children are proud Edwardsville High School graduates. As the former Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum for 19 years, I have had the good fortune to work closely with Dr. Ed Hightower and a talented team of administrators, teachers, board members, and community volunteers who, under his skillful leadership, have built District 7 into the outstanding organization it is today. Its well-deserved reputation for excellence extends far beyond our boundaries.
The District’s goals will continue to be the maintenance of a safe and secure learning environment for each student, curricula that provides each student with opportunities to grow and develop to his/her fullest academic potential, facilities that are well-maintained and designed to serve children, technology that improves and enhances the instructional process, and extracurricular activities that include athletics, the performing arts, and many others that enhance each child’s educational experience. These are the qualities that have made District 7 the “district of choice” by families, past, present, and future, who are seeking the best education possible for their children.
As your new Superintendent, I pledge to maintain the high academic standards this district has enjoyed for the last 19 years. The District will continue to provide each student with the very best educational experience possible by investing in a high quality professional staff who are the best at what they do both within and outside of the classroom. I will continue to communicate with parents and community members through District email, School Messenger, the District website, and school web pages, as well as the District’s Facebook page.
I am proud to continue the tradition of excellence of District 7, and I look forward to working with each of you over the next year.
