EHS BOYS’ SOCCER BOOSTERS 2009

Please keep this handout for future reference.

Welcome to EHS soccer!  We begin each season looking forward to great games, friendships and memories.  The purpose of the booster club is to support the boys’ soccer teams (Freshman, Junior Varsity and Varsity) by raising funds and attending all games and activities.  Events are run by committees who decide the specifics of each activity.  Volunteers should be a mix of all grade levels to insure communication to all families and continuity from season to season.  All booster members are highly encouraged to volunteer for at least one committee.  Our primary means of communication is through email.

The booster club meets once a month at EHS during the season.  It elects the following board:  president, vice president, secretary and treasurer.  Currently, Alan Fremont is our president; Gina Krebs is vice-president; Jane Tays is secretary; and Becky Thebeau is treasurer.  Officers were elected at the April booster meeting.  Most volunteers for committee chairs have been filled.  Additional volunteers are required to assist the chairs.  Sign-ups are available at the Orange and Black Scrimmage.

2009 Booster Activities:

Uniforms                         Chairpersons:  Marisa Schumacher   655-9432

Jerseys are provided by EHS.  Boys are responsible for shorts, socks, shin guards, shoes, etc.  The booster club arranges a one-time order for these items.  Styles change as necessary.  Unused uniform items are refundable until the Orange and Black Scrimmage.

Booster Dues

All parents of players put on a roster are mandatory members of the booster club.  Annual dues are $25.00 and will be collected from each family at the Orange and Black Scrimmage.

Concession Stand        Chairperson:  Gina Krebs   656-7099  Kathy Hankins  656-5470

The concession stand is one of our main fundraisers and requires everyone’s help.  At least one parent of each player must work the concession stand during one home game.  Sign up for a V, JV, or FR level game.  We do not want you to sign up during your son’s games.  A total of 3 parents are needed for each JV and Varsity game, and 2 parents for each Freshman game.  Sorry, but no children helpers and no free items to workers and players!  You may sign up at the Orange and Black Game.  Those unable to work are offered a buy-out for $20.00.

Thanks in advance for your help in serving our team and our guests!

In addition, each player must provide one case (24) of Coca-Cola Products for the concession stand:

Freshman players            (24) 16 oz. Dasani bottled water

Sophomore players          (24) 12 oz. Coke cans

Junior players                 (24) 12 oz. Sprite cans

Senior players                 (24) 12 oz. Diet Coke cans

You may drop off your drinks at the concession stand during the first week of practice or at the Orange & Black game.  Those preferring not to donate drinks are assessed a $10.00 buy-out.

Senior Night             Chairperson(s):___Kathy Hankins__________

October13,2009 or TBD             Previous Chair: Lisa Becher

Typically the last home game of the season, senior players and their parents are honored before the varsity game.  Personalized decorations make it a memorable occasion.   Each senior writes a special message to his parents and gives a keepsake gift and flower.  Senior cheerleaders and the dance team that participate at the soccer games are also recognized.  Information from prior years is available.

Banquet              Chairpersons: ____Barb Gramke______________

Tent. Date 11/10/2009     Previous Chairs:  Gina Krebs, Kim Harrison

All three teams participate, so this is a very important event as well as a large one to plan.  Coaches summarize each team’s season and recognize player achievements.  Players attend free as guests of the booster club, and family members must pay for their meal.  The banquet is generally on a weeknight so the majority of the players can attend.  Seniors generally receive a parting gift, and coaches receive a gift of appreciation.  Information from prior years is available.

Booth    Chairperson: ___Dave Hankins, Alan Fremont___

Several people are needed for technological duties.  An announcer, manager of the clock, music, anthem, PA system, and soccer sign lights are needed in order for each game to run efficiently.

Action Pictures    Chairperson:  __Amy Dowd___      Previous Chair:  LeighAnn Strohmeier

Andy Thomas (288-4093) takes action pictures during home games.  Last year he

was able to take pictures of all three teams.  The booster club pays him for the CDs.  Pictures are given to the EHS yearbook staff, displayed at the banquet and given to players.

Gene Kunz Photography (home # 618-576-9464,  his cell#  618-535-9464 ; HCR61 Box 15C, Hardin, IL 62047; e-mail is GTKUNZ@aol.com) takes action pictures of each player (all three teams) at one home game.  He provides computer-printed books of all shots.  Parents are given an opportunity to order individual pictures.

Varsity Dinner          Chairperson Needed

Dinner will be hosted for varsity roster only the night prior to home games.  Sign up to host the dinners will be available pre-season.  Funds will be provided to the host as budgeted.

General Fundraising     Chairperson: Vice-President Gina Krebs

In previous years, the boosters have sponsored auctions, a chicken/beer dance, etc. to raise general funds for equipment, tournament travel, warm-ups, and more.  This position may be overridden while stadium funds are required.
