Bio

Ms. Angelina McLaughlin- Heil is a graduate of Highland Park High School in Highland Park, IL., but spent most of her life in Alton, IL.

She attended SIUE on the Honors Quartet  Scholarship as a cellist studying with Mr. Joseph Peval and Dr. Kungho Lee.

Ms. McLaughlin- Heil is also a 4 time recipient of the Johnetta Haley Scholarship and received the Dr. Martin Luther King Humanitarian Award and Scholarship.

She has received Suzuki method training from SIUE on violin and from University of Steven's Point Wisc.  and the Chicago Suzuki Institute on cello. Ms. McLaughlin- Heil teachers part time at SIUE's Suzuki Program with her mentor,  Ms. Glenda Piek.

Ms. McLaughlin- Heil has played as principal cellist in the Waukegan Symphony Orchestra, Florissant Symphony, and participated in the UMSL Orchestra and Alton Symphonies.  She also serves on the board for the Alton Youth Symphony orchestra, as the historian and alumnae. Ms. McLaughlin- Heil has also adjudicated several festivals and competitions in Missouri and Illinois.

Ms. M, as her students call her, taught for one year in Waukegan IL. as a middle school orchestra and general music teacher and for three years in the Ferguson- Florissant School District teaching orchestra for 3- 12th graders. She has been teaching orchestra at Edwardsville High School since the fall of '08.
