World War II was a watershed event dividing the twentieth-century; it was the culmination of a number of events, as well as the establishment of a new world order for the late-twentieth century. If we are to understand our times – where we have come from, how we got here, and where we are going – we must study World War II. The spring semester of American History is devoted primarily to examining the last century.
