"We Americans are the best informed people on earth as to the events of the last twenty-four hours; we are not the best informed as to the events of the last sixty centuries."

- Will and Ariel Durant

Modern World History traces the development of civilizations around the world since the Renaissance and Reformation in Western Europe. Each unit involves an overview of major events, historical figures, geographical details, cultural contributions, and relationships which shaped the world in which we live today. Reading material is supplemented with appropriate visuals to assist the students in developing an image of the last five-hundred years. The course includes discussions of economic, political, and cultural changes as well as an analysis and comparison of historical events.  The textbook we use is World History - The Human Experience, published by the McGraw-Hill Companies, Inc.
