District 7 School Board -- Math Department Report

The fundamental mission of the EHS math department is to:

  • enable all students to graduate with the math skills needed for success in college or career.

  • encourage students to maximize their analytic and mathematical potential.

  • support the mission and goals of EHS and District 7.

The goals of the EHS math department for 2011-12 are:

  • Academic Goals

    • Provide instruction and support to students in preparation for successful performance on Praire State Achievement Exam (PSAE) and other college entrance exams.
    • Continue to participate in the K-12 Math Curriculum Study in order to address the needs and core skills of our students while maintaining and promoting high academic standards.
    • Expand the opportunities available to students to encourage college-readiness.
  • Faculty Goals

    • Encourage and enable continued collaborative but structured work among teachers via course leaders and curricular teams.
    • Promote professional teacher development.
    • Involve parents and the community in the mathematical development of their students.
  • Response to Intervention (RTI) Goal

    • Identify and implement consistent placement and intervention processes within the math department that addresses the changing needs and skills of students who are not meeting state standards in math.
