Requirements of Choral Students
1.
All students participating in curricular or
extra-curricular choirs are expected to abide by the
Edwardsville High School code of conduct.
2. Be responsible for music provided. Music
lost or returned in unsuitable condition must be paid
for at
the current replacement cost.
3. Participate in all required concerts. All
concerts are mandatory. The only exceptions are as
follows:
a. Student illness--a parent/guardian must call and leave a
message at 656-7100, ext. 20170, or
e-mail.
b. Death in the family
c. Conflict with another school-related activity (usually due
to an athletic game, however, this does
not mean that the student is excused
from the entire concert)
4. Attend all sectionals, rehearsals, and
performances punctually.
5. Practice music learned during class at home
daily.
6. Provide proper concert attire when necessary.
When choir robes are used for performances, you
must have the following:
Males: black pants, black shoes, black socks, t-shirt
(any color as long as there is no collar to
stick out top of robe)
Females: black pants or black skirts, off-black or
black hose, black shoes
*If there is a specialty concert, proper attire will be
announced at least one month prior to the
performance.
Fundraisers
The
choirs will be participating in one or two fundraisers
this year. The first is a candy and cookie dough
fundraiser through Century Resources in October. Profits
from these fundraisers are recorded, by the
directors, for each individual student. If your child
participates in the fundraisers, money earned may be
applied to their All-State and Solo & Ensemble fees.
The remainder of fundraising profits is used to offset
the cost of awards, contest fees, and various other
items to help maintain a quality program.
