Red Ribbon Week

The
week of October 26 – 30 has been designated as Red Ribbon Week at
Edwardsville High School. Red Ribbon Week is a nationally recognized event,
which began as a way to honor the life of DEA agent Kiki Camarena, who was
murdered by drug traffickers in Mexico City in 1985. After his death, Agent
Camarena’s supporters began to wear red ribbons to signify their commitment
to reduce the demand for drugs in their communities. Soon the act of wearing
red ribbons grew into a national phenomenon known as the Red Ribbon

ALPHA/ EPIC Set to Release Media Campaign

The EHS peer leadership group, ALPHA/ EPIC will kick off
its “LiveFree. AlcoholFree” media campaign at the high school during Red
Ribbon Week. The campaign is part of an attempt by ALPHA/ EPIC members to
educate students regarding the truth about alcohol use by their peers.
