EHS Plants One Sweet
Kiss on the Children of St Jude

During
the week of February 11-14, the EHS Medical Careers Club
hosted the first annual Rally Against Childhood Cancer—a
fundraiser for St Jude Children’s Research Hospital. EHS
was the first high school in the state of Illinois to
host a Rally. The students in the Medical Careers Club
selected the theme, “EHS Kisses Childhood Cancer
Goodbye” and a goal of $20,000 was set. There were
several fundraisers that took place during the week to
help EHS reach its goal: students participated in Coin
Wars, bought carnations for friends, and donated to
their favorite senior King and Queen of Hearts
candidates. The week concluded with a letter writing
campaign. 344 EHS students enjoyed music and pizza while
they wrote letters to their friends and families asking
for a donation for St Jude. Not only did EHS reach its
goal, it surpassed the goal by more than $12,000! On
April 10, the Medical Careers Club presented St Jude
Children’s Research Hospital with a check for $32,451!
Mrs. Johnes, sponsor of the Medical Careers Club, took
eleven students to St Jude Hospital in Memphis on April
18. While they were there, the students toured the
hospital and the Target House. Mrs. Johnes felt it was
important for the students to see where the money is
going and the children it is helping. To date, EHS has
raised $33,139 for the children of St Jude! The Medical
Careers Club plans to host a Rally next year as well.
Thanks to all those students, teachers, parents,
businesses, and community members who helped support
such a wonderful cause!

be conducted in the Lucco-Jackson Gym on June 7, 2008, at 3:00 p.m.
On September 25, 2007, the District notified parents of graduating
