The historic N.O. Nelson Campus is the site of a branch of Lewis &
Clark Community College (LCCC). The campus has been renovated into a
high-tech career education center serving the residents of the
Edwardsville-Glen Carbon area. The partnership between LCCC and District
7 provides increased educational opportunities for high school students
by providing space for technical and academic classes at both the high
school and community college level. Students who attend have access to
state-of-the-art technology. The unique agreement between the college
and the school district offers unique opportunities for students.
In
1999, District 7 and Lewis and Clark Community College entered into a
unique partnership to analyze current workforce needs and to develop
career and technical education programming that would prepare students
for today’s job market. The District 7/LCCC partnership took center stage
in the fall of 2003 when a dual-use, high-tech career education center
opened at the N.O. Nelson Campus of LCCC in Edwardsville. Approximately
500 students attend the Nelson Campus for one-half of their school day.
Students are able to access a variety of classes, including dual-credit
opportunities, on the Nelson Campus. |
