Three students, Sarah George and Kate Lin, both Freshmen, and
Jessica Arnold, a Junior, from EHS received Outstanding Placement at
Regional Science Fair at SIU-E on March 22. Sarah George's project was
titled "External Stimuli Affects Predetermined Perceptions" and
included data from a survey of 300 people she conducted.
| "The Effect of
Simulated Herbivory on Fecundity of Boltonia decurrens, an Endangered
Species" was the title of Jessica Arnold's project. She was awarded
the Best of Regional Science Fair overall, her project will be
continuing to State Science Fair May 10 and the International Science
Fair in Cleveland Ohio May 11-18. This is the second year in a row
that Jessica has been invited to the International Fair. Her research
paper on the same project received second overall at the Regional Fair
and will be presented by her at the State Science Fair competition.
Jessica also presented her project Monday, March 24 at the Illinois
Junior Science and Humanities Symposium at SIU Carbondale. She was one
of only 7 students in the state of Illinois selected to present their
research. |

| Kate Lin's
project, "The Failing Moment" was included in the engineering
category
and received the Best of Fair for Engineering, Best Use of SI Units
and the U.S. Army Outstanding Science Fair Project. She will continue
competition at the IL State Science Fair on May 10. |

EHS is very proud to be represented by these three young
women who are excelling in science. We wish them luck at the state and
international competitions!
