VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Prevention Activities: Parent volunteers will assist Lincoln and Liberty Middle School administration and prevention staff in providing alcohol, tobacco and other drug and violence free activities described below:

· F.I.T. & G.O. Monthly Pizza Party/Meetings: FOR ALL GRADES: Volunteers setup and serve
food, distribute materials during pizza party meetings.

· Sixth Grade Welcome Night: FOR 6TH GRADE: Students will have the opportunity to participate in
a variety of fun team building activities including the Ultimate Obstacle Course, Beach Volleyball,
games and socialize with peers and staff. Volunteers are needed to help organize and work the event.
This event will be held on Friday evening September 11 (Liberty) and September 25 (Lincoln).

· One 4 the Community-Prevention Program Fundraiser: FOR ALL GRADES: This program
involves organizing, distributing, and collecting materials and prizes. Dates are October 1-16.

· Red Ribbon Week: FOR ALL GRADES: Includes various prevention activities such as face painting,
door judging contest, community speakers, games all through the week of October 23–31. Volunteers
are needed to assist with events and activities.

· G.O./F.I.T./D.A.R.E Float: FOR ALL GRADES: The float is sponsored by Friends In Touch (F.I.T.)
and Guidance in Operation (G.O.). All F.I.T. and G.O. students are invited to participate. Volunteers
are needed to walk in the parade with students and assist students and staff with designing and
building a float for the annual community parade held on October 31. Construction is done after
school and in the evening starting October 14, and lasting until October 31.

· Fall Fling: FOR 7TH AND 8TH GRADES: A fun filled evening that includes D.J. Dance, sports games,
dance-dance revolution, board games, karaoke, face painting, pictures, and refreshments. Volunteers
are needed to help organize the event, donate soda, water, chips, candy, and work the evening of the
event. The event is planned for Friday, November 6.

· Veteran’s Day Tailgate Party & Parade: FOR ALL GRADES: F.I.T. and G.O. participate in the
annual Veteran's Day Parade and host a tailgate party for middle school students participating in the
parade. Volunteers are needed to seek food donations and to help host the party. The event is
November 11.

· Toy Drive/Food Drive: FOR ALL GRADES: Assist in sorting and delivering toys and canned food
for holiday baskets. Nov. 23-Dec.11.

· Winter Fling: FOR 6TH GRADE: A fun filled evening that includes Staff Sumo Face-Off, D.J. Dance,
sports games, dance-dance revolution, board games, karaoke, face painting, and refreshments.
Volunteers are needed to help organize the event, donate soda candy, chips, water or film and work
the evening of the event. The event is planned for Friday, January 29.

· Spring Fling: FOR 6TH & 7TH GRADES: A fun filled evening that includes Jail & Bail, D.J. Dance,
sports games, dance-dance revolution, board games, pictures, Volunteers are needed to help organize
the event, donate soda, water, chips, candy, film and work the evening of the event. The Fling is
scheduled for Friday, April 23.

· Celebrate Sober: Be True to Yourself!: FOR ALL GRADES: Is designed to promote healthy
decision-making. Lunchtime activities such as face painting, Pledge To Be Drug-Free, and other
activities are targeted for ALL STUDENTS. This annual event is held for 7th grade students. Seventh
graders attend a variety of prevention workshops throughout the day, and receive a free t-shirt.
Volunteer help is needed for daily activities on April 21 (Lincoln) and May 19 (Liberty).

· Eighth Grade Celebration: FOR 8TH GRADE: This is a special celebration for Lincoln & Liberty 8th
graders. It is a D.J. Dance (CASUAL DRESS) and social time. Volunteers are needed to help plan
the theme, create decorations, donate soda, candy, and assist the evening of the event. This event
involves a lot of advance planning, decorating, and parent volunteers.
The celebration is
scheduled for Friday, May 7.
