Reading Club
Reading Club is:
- A program that provides extra support
in reading instruction
- It helps students improve their
ability to read and be successful in the regular classroom
- It is a program that students may exit
at any time depending on the child’s needs
Programs
provided by the Reading Specialist:
- Pull out—a group of children will
leave the classroom for extra reading instruction
- In class instruction—time is spent team
teaching in the regular classroom with all the students for reading
instruction
- Phonemic awareness activities (the
ability to hear individual sounds in words and rhyming) are presented in
the kindergarten classroom on a weekly basis
Qualifications:
- Test scores—students who demonstrate a
need for extra help in reading through the screening process
Expectations
of parents:
- All parents must sign a parent contract
Progress
reports:
- Will be included quarterly with your
child’s classroom report card
- Parent/Teacher conferences will be
held in the Reading Club during regular conference times
