Bevis busy in new role as AD

Brad Bevis has had a little time to get
antiquated with his new position as athletic
director at Edwardsville High School. So far
so good. When Tim Dougherty made the
announcement that he was stepping down to
become an administrator and the head
football coach at Lincoln-Way Central after
16 years at the football helm at EHS and 13
years as the athletic director, it didn’t
take long for Edwardsville to take action.

Watershed spreads word on wonders

Watershed Nature Center, each year District
7 elementary students become connected to
nature as well as learn about their place in
the community and our world from Watershed
Nature Center Teacher Sandy Fultz. Fultz
gave an informational overview at last
week’s District 7 School Board meeting about
the Watershed program she teaches.

embarking on a new adventure as students of
new schools, both Martha Richey and Tara
Wells will also be beginning a new chapter
in their careers. When students arrive at
Albert Cassens Elementary on the first day

Richey, will greet them.

were jawing back and forth prior to
Saturday’s 13th annual Mud Mountain 5K
Classic at Southern Illinois University
Edwardsville about which one of them was
going to win the race. But nobody was
talking about former Metro-East Lutheran
standout Kent Wories. Until after the race,

District 7 set for big year, registration begins

District 7 moves toward the opening of the
2008-09 school year with middle school and
elementary registration occurring this week.
Superintendent
Ed Hightower said that construction is
winding down, many teachers are heading back
to classrooms, and the finishing touches are
being applied as the District prepares to
welcome students back to school. “The
beginning of school is just around the
corner. It will be exciting to see students
and their parents walking the halls of our
buildings again,” Hightower said.
