In preparation for the school's eighth annual Veterans' Day Breakfast, students created a Veteran Wall of Honor, banners honoring the five branches of the U.S. Armed Forces, and banners describing the six wars or conflicts in which our nation's military has proudly served. In addition, students used the Library of Congress's Veterans History Project to report on veterans' stories of courage and honor to create a display to educate the school and community about the sacrifices these brave soldiers made. Following the breakfast, Congressman John Shimkus addressed the students and their guests describing the dedication that our country's veterans have displayed through their willingness to serve in the various branches of our armed forces.

Additionally, over 150 F.I.T. and G.O. students attended a tailgate party before walking in the Veterans' Day Parade. Students listened to music and enjoyed free food donated by local area restaurants. Afterwards, we walked in the parade to show support for our veterans and the men and women currently serving in our armed forces.

Congratulations to David, Maria, Katie, Hannah, and Taegan who will receive the Do the Right Thing Award at the ECUSD7 Board of Education meeting on Monday, November 10. These students are excellent representatives of our school, and we are proud to celebrate their accomplishments!
David Bond, 6th grader, was nominated by his PE teacher for standing up for a fellow student in the locker room.
Maria Smith, 7th grader, was nominated by the Prevention Program for her work and leadership with FIT.
Katie Keck, 7th grader, was nominated by one of her teachers for volunteering to purchase a replacement ID card for a friend.
Hannah Stuart, 8th grader, was nominated by the Prevention Program for going out of her way to help students feel connected during the 6th Grade Celebration.
Taegan Riley, 8th grader, was nominated by the Prevention Program for her efforts in planning FIT/GO events.

The two teams wore alternating colors of pink and white, the colors were worn in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Through donations, concessions, and raffles a contribution of $1,500.00 will be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

- Please allow activity buses to park in the bus lane, which is the west side of the circle drive beginning at the main crosswalk.
- Please use extra caution when passing through the crosswalk area as students and staff are crossing the circle drive.
For morning and afternoon drop-off and pick-up
- Please use the loop closest to the football field.
- Do not drop off or pick up students in the staff parking lot unless you are parking and accompanying them to or from the building.
