This week, District 7 3rd -8th grade students and high school students enrolled in select courses will participate in the PARCC (Partnership for the Assessment of Readiness for College and Career) assessments.
The PARCC assessment is one test with two parts. Students took the first part, known as the performance-based assessment (PBA) in March. The PBA measured critical thinking, reasoning and application skills through “extended tasks” such as written answers or multi-step math problems.
The end-of-year assessment (EOY), being administered this week, consists of short answer questions and questions that measure skills like reading comprehension, vocabulary and math proficiency.
The Illinois State Board of Education has informed us that we can anticipate test results after Thanksgiving. We will share those results with you as they become available.
A Better Place to Play
As a continuation of our partnership with the City of Edwardsville Parks and Recreation Department, District 7 is pleased to share information on an exciting new city initiative – “A Better Place to Play.”
The campaign, “A Better Place to Play,” will fund three projects in Edwardsville: a Spray & Play Park - which feature a splash pad and dry playground, fitness track, shade structures and pavilions, an Ice Rink/Teen Center which features a 43,000 sq. ft. indoor facility for hockey, figure skating, and recreational skate use, and a multi-use Sports Park which meets the growing need for field space for athletes of all ages.
We believe that this campaign is a great initiative that not only improves recreational facilities, but also provides additional opportunities for all District 7 students and community residents. “A Better Place to Play” is the future of our Edwardsville community! [More Info]
