Students in Mrs. Burns' second grade class at N. O. Nelson Elementary gave their reasons as to why they think the dinosaurs became extinct.
I think dinosaurs are extinct because a volcano erupted and lava spread around the ground and cracked the earth and some of the dinosaurs fell in the water and died.

I think that the dinosaurs are extinct because they shook the earth which caused 2 meteors to hit! And because of the explosion, a volcano erupted and the thick lava caused an earthquake. Then bits of meteor covered the earth! After the bits cleared the earth, the wind blew out ash and bits of the meteor which blocked out the sun. Because of static electricity, ash and meteor covered the plants so the plant eaters died. Then the meat eaters could not eat plants or meat so they died.

I think that dinosaurs are extinct because the meteor (it was a big meteor) went into the water and exploded all over the place. What caused this is it exploded and the dinosaurs did not run fast. The other way they got extinct is Tyrannosaurus Rex ate them for dinner.
