Students in Mrs. Burns second grade class have been studying Native Americans
of the Far Arctic Region the Inuit. They wrote brief reports to tell about what they
had learned.

The Inuit people lived in Alaska. It was cold. The Inuit wore warm clothing. They ate seal, whale, and fish, such as needlefish and salmon, caribou, and walrus. The womans job was to cook the food. The mans job was to hunt. Their homes were made of chunks of ice. They believed that the Spirits were watching over them.

The Inuit played games at festivals such as blanket toss, funny face, stick-in-the-hole and pick-up stick. The men hunted. They started to hunt at 10. The women made clothing and scraped fur and cooked the food. When they were done hunting they thanked the animal for its life. All their houses were called igloos. In the winter it was freezing. In the summer it was only cool and sunny. They ate whale, walrus, seal, caribou, polar bear and fish.
