Students in Mrs. Burns’ second grade class researched and wrote a report about a President. Students had to find when and where the President was born, jobs he had before President, term of office, something that happened while he was President, and when and how he died (if applicable).

Franklin D. Roosevelt was born on January 3O, 1882 in Hyde Park, New York. Before he was President his jobs were assistant secretary of the Navy and he was also elected governor of New York. He was in office from 1933 to 1945. While he was in office, World War II started. Franklin D. Roosevelt died April 12, 1945 of a cerebral hemorrhage.

Ronald W. Reagan was born on February 6, 1911 in Tampico, IL. Before President he was in the Air Force, radio sports announcer, President of the Screen Actors Guild, and spokesman for G. E. He was President from 1981-1989. While he was President the U.S. taxes were lowered, communism in the Soviet Union was defeated, and American hostages in Iran were freed. On June 5, 2004, he died because of Alzheimer’s disease.

Herbert Hoover was born on August 10, 1874 in West Branch, Iowa. He was a chief engineer and the United States food administrator. He became President in 1929. While he was President, the Great Depression happened. On October 20, 1964 in New York, Herbert Hoover had a heart attack and died.

Richard Nixon was born on January 9, 1913 in Yorba Linda, California. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was elected to the U. S. House of Representatives, elected to the U. S. Senate, and elected Vice President of the United States. His office term in years was 1969-1974.While he was President the Vietnam War was going on. Then on April 22, 1994, he died in New York City. He had a stroke.

William Taft was born September 15, 1857 in Ohio. In 1892 he was a judge. In 1902 he was a governor of the Philippines. In 1904 he was elected President and in 1913 he was re-elected. While Taft was President federal income tax was established. On Tuesday, January 7, 1893 he was very ill. He could not do anything about it and Taft died.

Millard Fillmore was born on January 7, 1800 in New York. He was elected to the US House of Representatives, elected Vice President of the United States and on July10, 1850 was sworn in as President. He was President from 1850-1853. While he was president, the Underground Railroad was happening and the railroad was expanding. While he was President, he died of a stroke on March 8, 1874 in Buffalo, New York.

Bill Clinton was born on August 19, 1946 in Hope, Arkansas. He had jobs before being President. They where as a lawyer, elected Arkansas attorney general, and Governor of Arkansas. He was President for eight years from 1993-2001. Something that happened while he was President was that he opened International trade.

William McKinley was born on January 29, 1843 in Niles, Ohio. Before he was elected President, he was a soldier, Governor of Ohio, elected to U.S. House of Representatives, and a lawyer. He was president from 1897 to 1901. While he was President, the Boxer Rebellion happened. On September 6, 1901, he was shot and eight days later, on September 14, 1901, he died.

Theodore Roosevelt was born on October 27, 1858 in New York. He was a rancher, a writer, and public official. He was President from 1901-1909. While he was President, the Wright Brothers flew the first airplane. He died of a blood clot in the heart on January 6, 1919.

James (Jimmy) E. Carter Jr. was born on October 1^st, 1924 in Archery Georgia. He was elected Governor in 1970. He was elected to the Senate two times. He was President from 1977 to 1981. While James was President, an accident happened at Three Mile Island. It happened in 1979. James (Jimmy) E. Carter Jr. is still living.

Ulysses S. Grant was born on April 27, 1822 at Point Pleasant, Ohio. His jobs before President were as an Illinois volunteer and he led the Union troops to victory and was the Commander of the Union. He was in office from 1869-1877. The first railroad to go across the U.S.A. was built. He died on July 23, 1885 because of cancer.

John Adams was born in October 30, 1735. He was a good man. When he was grown he was teacher, a lawyer, and a writer. John Adams was the second President. He made good rules and good things. John Adams died by a stroke on July 4, 1826.

On October 14, 1890 in Denison, Texas, Dwight D. Eisenhower was born. Before he was President he worked in the military. Dwight D. Eisenhower was President 1953-1961, which is for eight years. When Dwight D. Eisenhower was President, the Korean War ended. He died in the hospital in Washington D.C. from heart failure on March 28, 1969.

When Kennedy was President, John Glenn was the first person in space. On November 22, 1963, Kennedy was shot and killed.

He had one term of being President from 1845-1849. He was President when the United States achieved its greatest territorial growth. He died in 1849 by having cholera.

House of Representatives, served as an ambassador to the United Nations, was head of the CIA, and was Vice-President. His term in office as President was 1989-1993. The Persian Gulf War happened while he was President. He is still living.

John Tyler was born on March 29, 1790 in Virginia. He got to be the Governor, he went to the House of Representatives, was elected to the U.S. Senate, and was Vice President. His term in office was 1841 to 1845.When he was President, pioneers went West. On January 18, 1862 he died of a stroke.

He fought for 2 years. When he was 58, he ran for President. His motto was, "Our land must be preserved." He won the election. He was President for 8 years, 1829-1837. During this time, Arkansas and Michigan were added to the Union. He died on June 8, 1845 of old age.
