The Narwhal

By Jarod

The narwhal is very interesting. A narwhal weighs 1 ton. A male is 16 feet long, and a female is 13 feet long. The female is shorter because female narwals do not eat as much. If a female narwal eats as much it would be 16 feet, too. A baby narwhal is 5 feet long, so it is a little bit smaller than its mom and dad. Narwhals are blushing gray and the   baby Narwhals color is brown. You can find narwals in icy water and the Arctic seas. A narwhal has only two teeth. Its horn is 7 feet long. During a narwhals first year, it grows a horn. The narwhal is really fast. It can also jump high. A narwhal eats fish, squid, shrimp, and other marine animals. That’s why I think the narwhal is interesting.

Narwhals

By Katherine

Narwhals are cool so you should read this. All Narwhals have two teeth in their upper jaw. One long tooth can grow to be 7 to 10 feet long. Narwhals can grow to be 16 feet long and weigh about 1.8 tons. Females are slightly smaller and are about 13 feet long and weigh about 1 ton. At birth Narwhals are about 5 feet and about 175 pounds. Narwhal means “corpse whale” in Old Norse. Their skin is blue and gray with white blotches (young Narwhals are brown).  Narwhals have no dorsal fin and a round head and small mouth on their snout. Narwhals live in the icy waters of the Artic seas. They rarely stray far from ice. A Narwhal can dive from 7 to 20 minutes. Narwhals eat squid, shrimp and fish. Pods of 4 to 20 Narwhals have been observed. Some groups consist of boys and girls. Many pods may travel together forming very large groups. It is estimated that there are roughly 10,000 to 45,000 narwhals. That is why I think they are so cool.
