District 7 School Psychologists

School psychologists work closely with teachers, administrators, parents, and other related service providers to promote student learning and social-emotional well-being. They also serve as core members of building collaborative teams. A primary function of school psychologists in the district is employing their psychoeducational assessment expertise to conduct evaluations of students suspected of having disabilities that impact their educational performance.

Homework: A Guide for District 7 Parents – Part II

In Part I of this two-part series, expectations about homework were outlined and a number of helpful general strategies were offered (i.e., establishing clear routines, implementing incentive systems). For many students, however, these strategies may be insufficient in addressing specific homework problems. The role parents can play in helping children with homework problems depends both on the age of the child and the willingness of the parent to intervene and expend time and energy. No matter the age of the child or the level of parental involvement, however, it is important for parents to communicate to their children that homework is a responsibility they need to take seriously.
