Are YOU up to the Challenge?

The time has almost arrived for the 2015 version of Woody's Summer Academic Challenge! Summer is the perfect time to push yourself to dive deeper into those books and tackle fun math challenges.  There's no better way than to participate in Woody's Challenge!  How do you join in the fun?  Click here for all of the details.  Woody's Challenge begins Monday, June 15 and runs through Friday, July 31.  Those students earning 30 Bobcat points will participate in a celebration at the beginning of the 2015-2016 School Year.

It's great to be a Bobcat!

Welcome to the Woodland Website!  Woodland Elementary School is located in Edwardsville, Illinois and is a part of Edwardsville Community Unit School District #7. Woodland School is one of four intermediate centers in the district. We are fortunate enough to have third, fourth, and fifth grade students attend our building. There are approximately 500 students enrolled at Woodland Elementary School. Our students come to us from Nelson, Glen Carbon, and Goshen Elementary Schools. Nelson, Glen Carbon and Goshen are three of District 7's primary buildings.

Our students and staff take a great deal of pride in our school. We are excited to share with you, through our web site, just a small portion of the opportunities that are available at Woodland. We hope you enjoy your visit to our web site. If you have any questions regarding our school, please feel free to contact us at 618-692-8790

PARCC Update

This week, District 7 3rd -8th grade students and high school students enrolled in select courses will participate in the PARCC (Partnership for the Assessment of Readiness for College and Career) assessments.

The PARCC assessment is one test with two parts. Students took the first part, known as the performance-based assessment (PBA) in March. The PBA measured critical thinking, reasoning and application skills through “extended tasks” such as written answers or multi-step math problems.

The end-of-year assessment (EOY), being administered this week, consists of short answer questions and questions that measure skills like reading comprehension, vocabulary and math proficiency.

The Illinois State Board of Education has informed us that we can anticipate test results after Thanksgiving. We will share those results with you as they become available.

A Better Place to Play

As a continuation of our partnership with the City of Edwardsville Parks and Recreation Department, District 7 is pleased to share information on an exciting new city initiative – “A Better Place to Play.”

The campaign, “A Better Place to Play,” will fund three projects in Edwardsville: a Spray & Play Park - which feature a splash pad and dry playground, fitness track, shade structures and pavilions, an Ice Rink/Teen Center which features a 43,000 sq. ft. indoor facility for hockey, figure skating, and recreational skate use, and a multi-use Sports Park which meets the growing need for field space for athletes of all ages.

We believe that this campaign is a great initiative that not only improves recreational facilities, but also provides additional opportunities for all District 7 students and community residents. “A Better Place to Play” is the future of our Edwardsville community! [More Info]

Kindergarten registration has been extended on Thursday, February 26, 2015. Hours of registration will be from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at all primary schools.
