School is out for the Summer, but Learning Never Stops!

Woody wants you to join in the fun with his Summer Academic Challenge!

How do I join in on the fun? It's easy!  See below for ways to meet Woody's Challenge!

  •  READING!  After reading 50 pages of the book of your choice, select one reading response from the Reading Comprehension Strategies list (click here for list).  Do your very best with your response.  Woody wants to hear from you about all the great books you are reading over the summer!  Email your response to woody@ecusd7.org.  Be sure to include your first and last name, the title of the book, the author, the number of pages read, and your response strategy!  Every reading response will earn 1 Bobcat point!

  • MATH!  Please see the links below for the daily math calendar.  Click on the calendar for your 2013/2014 grade level, and email Woody your answers at woody@ecusd7.org.  Feel free to complete more than one problem in a day if you would like, but keep all emails to one week's worth of problems or less!  Correct answers earn 1 Bobcat point!

2013/2014 THIRD GRADE            2013/2014 FOURTH GRADE       2013/2014 FIFTH GRADE

Frequently Asked Questions:

  1. Can I use the same books I am reading for the summer reading programs at our local libraries?   YES!  ABSOLUTELY!

  2. How will I know if Woody received my email?  YOU SHOULD GET A RESPONSE FROM WOODY WITHIN 48 HOURS.  IF YOU DO NOT, RESEND YOUR EMAIL.

  3. How long does the challenge last?  WOODY'S SUMMER ACADEMIC CHALLENGE RUNS FROM MONDAY, JUNE 3- FRIDAY, AUGUST 2.

It's great to be a Bobcat!

Welcome to the Woodland Website!  Woodland Elementary School is located in Edwardsville, Illinois and is a part of Edwardsville Community Unit School District #7. Woodland School is one of four intermediate centers in the district. We are fortunate enough to have third, fourth, and fifth grade students attend our building. There are approximately 500 students enrolled at Woodland Elementary School. Our students come to us from Nelson, Glen Carbon, and Goshen Elementary Schools. Nelson, Glen Carbon and Goshen are three of District 7's primary buildings.

Our students and staff take a great deal of pride in our school. We are excited to share with you, through our web site, just a small portion of the opportunities that are available at Woodland. We hope you enjoy your visit to our web site. If you have any questions regarding our school, please feel free to contact us at 618-692-8790.

Summer Zone will emphasize technology

Keeping their kids mentally engaged and physically active as well as entertained over summer break is always a challenge for parents. But District 7’s 2013 Summer Zone meets all of these requirements and more with its new programs featuring EHS student athlete sports mini-camps, computer lab access, Passport to the World as well as a partnership with SIUE to use its recreational facilities. EHS athletes to take part in Summer Zone

Interaction with EHS student athletes, computer keyboarding, Internet safety, computer software classes, and a close look at countries across the world are just a few of the new exciting programs that are a part of the District 7 Summer Zone. [More Info]

The Woodland Family Picnic = Huge Success!

One of our third graders was so excited to have Woody back!

SIUE Mens Basketball Team joins Woodland for Recess!

The SIUE men's basketball team joined Woodland students for recess to celebrate our accomplishments in this year's 1000 Minute Reading Club.

CELEBRATE!

Woodland students and staff had so much fun celebrating the Buffalo Wild Wings victory!  Students raced teachers at each grade level in a fun relay event.  The students edged out the teachers in third grade, and the teachers came back strong in fourth grade. In a tight race, fifth grade students needed a heroic ending to finish in front of the teachers!
