Welcome Parents to the 2008-2009 school year!  This year is an exciting year for District 7 and Woodland School.  I hope everyone had a relaxing summer and is as ready as I am to kick off another great year at Woodland Elementary. 

As your PTO president I would like you to know how thrilled I am to be serving such an amazing body of parents and children.  My experiences at Woodland have always been filled with positive collaboration both from parents, administrators and teachers.   This cohesive approach is what makes Woodland School such a fabulous experience for your children. 

If you are new to the district, the Woodland PTO extends a warm welcome to all of you!  We want you to know that the PTO is here to answer your questions and help you get involved with the many volunteer opportunities that exist at our school.  This is an exciting time in your child’s education and Woodland is a great place to share that experience with your child through volunteering.  Welcome to the district and welcome to Woodland.

To all of our returning families, the PTO would like to say thank you for all of your hard work last year.  Our student population is smaller this year due to the opening of the new Cassens Elementary school.  Our PTO was able to help our departing students by helping to fund the new PTO organization at Cassens.  Additionally, the students will be excited to see sightings of our new Bobcat Mascot.  Your children will have access this year to over 200 new Accelerated Reader books and tests due to the fundraising efforts of our amazing parents.  We also anticipate making some improvements to the media center this year, we have already added $4,500 worth of new books.  Our success is 100% due to the commitment and dedication of our volunteers.  We encourage everyone to be part of this exciting organization.

Parents will continue to be able to connect to the PTO link on the Woodland School home page and find contact information for board members and committee chairs, fundraiser information for year round fundraising events, PTO meeting dates and minutes, and special events and announcements.  As the district increasingly relies on the website as a communication tool, we as the PTO want to keep current with that philosophy.

Again, let me say welcome to the Woodland PTO!  I am anticipating another dynamic and exciting year at Woodland School.  Please feel free to call me with questions, volunteering offers, concerns, or comments.  I look forward to meeting you and hope to see many of you at our PTO monthly meetings.  Our first meeting will be on Wednesday, September 10^th @ 7:00pm in the Media Center.
