Illinois School Report Card Highlights: Edwardsville High School

Illinois School Report Card Highlights - EHS

November 6, 2025

Dear District #7 Families,

Each school in District #7 plays an important role in the journey from kindergarten through graduation. By sharing highlights from each school level, we can celebrate the growth and success of our students and staff across the district and see how every classroom contributes to empowering our students to achieve personal success.

Over the next few weeks, I will be sharing highlights from our 2025 Illinois Report Card by level, beginning with our high school, and continuing with our middle, intermediate, and primary schools. Each update will provide insight into the outstanding work happening in our classrooms and celebrate the achievements of our students and staff across the district.

This week, we are proud to spotlight Edwardsville High School, which earned an Exemplary designation, placing it in the top 10% of all schools in Illinois. This recognition reflects the collective effort of our students, staff, families, and community to uphold a long-standing tradition of excellence in academics, activities, and character.

Glows (Successes):

  • The highest-rated high school in Illinois was Teutopolis (98.83). Edwardsville High School received an impressive score of 94.53.

  • Of the 62 high schools that received an Exemplary designation, EHS ranked #31 statewide.

  • Among the top 31 schools, only Fremd, Glenbrook North, and Lincoln-Way have student populations comparable in size to EHS (each with more than 2,000 students).

  • EHS outperformed all schools in the Southwestern Conference.

Grows (Opportunities for growth):

  • The graduation rate is 92.95%, four percentage points higher than the state average (89%). Our goal is that 100% of students enrolled in Edwardsville High School graduate.

  • Chronic absenteeism at Edwardsville High School is 20.4%, an 8.4% decrease since 2023 (down from 28.8%). This means 20% of students missed approximately 18 or more days of school.

  • 9th Grade on Track to Graduate is 95.39%, a 22% increase since 2023 (73.6%). Our goal is for 100% of 9th-grade students to finish their first year on track for graduation.

  • ACT Scores:

  • Math: 21.5 (state average 18.8)

  • English Language Arts: 19.8 (state average 18.1)

  • Science: 21.4 (state average 19.1)

  • Continue to focus on closing any identified achievement gaps in the school report card.

There is much to celebrate when looking at how our students performed compared to schools across the Metro East and the state of Illinois. This success is a direct reflection of the commitment, collaboration, and work ethic of the administration, teachers, and students at Edwardsville High School. While we are proud of our results, we will not settle. We will continue to focus on our identified growth areas and seek new ways to empower all students to achieve personal success.
