Summer 2025 Construction Projects
Summer projects by school
This summer will be a busy and exciting time across District #7 as we move forward with a number of important construction projects.
Here’s a look at the projects happening across the district:
-
Secure Double Entry Installation: To enhance building security, secure double entries will be added at Columbus, EHS, Glen Carbon, Hamel, Leclaire, Nelson, and Woodland. Additionally, Woodland will receive a new accessible ramp to the new secure entry.
-
Nelson Office Relocation: As part of the security upgrades, Nelson Elementary will undergo a main office relocation. Rooms 210 and 211 will be converted into a new office suite that includes the principal’s office, conference room, nurse’s suite, and a teacher lounge. The existing office area will be transformed into two new classrooms, an expanded server room, a teacher's workroom, and additional office space.
-
Roof Replacements: Roofs at Glen Carbon, Woodland, Columbus, Hamel, and Nelson will be replaced due to damage sustained in the March 2024 hailstorm.
-
Solar Panel Installations: Liberty, Glen Carbon, Hamel, and EHS will see the completion of solar panel installations, supporting our district’s focus on sustainability and energy efficiency.
-
Asphalt Work: Asphalt resealing is scheduled at the Jon Davis Wrestling Center, the EHS Sports Complex, Columbus, Leclaire, and Liberty. The circle drive at Liberty will be fully replaced.
-
Lincoln Middle School Expansion: The 60,000-square-foot addition is nearly complete. This summer, we’ll be conducting asbestos abatement in the original 1925 portion of the building and the current cafeteria and kitchen. Additional updates include regrading the upper parking lot, constructing 13 temporary classrooms in the Lucco Gymnasium (each with permanent walls, doors, ceiling, heat/air conditioning, and full electrical and data capabilities), replacing the track and asphalt underlayment, and demolishing the existing cafeteria and kitchen. The remainder of the 1925 first floor will be renovated into administrative offices, as well as the connection to the new addition. Please note that Lincoln will be closed to the public this summer. Offices may still be reached by calling 618-656-0485.
-
Woodland Elementary Improvements: Included in the Lincoln Project 2 work; reconstruction of the parent pick-up and drop-off area, partial replacement of the front parking lot, and reconstruction of the drive lane access from IL-157. Please note that Woodland will be closed to the public this summer. Offices may still be reached by dialing 618-692-8790.
-
Edwardsville High School Updates: The Commons addition and renovation will be finalized this summer. Other projects include completion of the main gym floor, light renovation of the former Edwardsville Art Center, and replacement of the Winston Brown Track, along with in-field turf installation. Turf installation for the softball field is scheduled for this fall. Please note that EHS will be closed to the public this summer. Offices may still be reached by calling 618-656-7100.
