Thanksgiving Message From Dr. Duncan

Good afternoon, District #7 Families, 

As we approach Thanksgiving, I want to take a moment to express my gratitude to the entire District #7 family. Our mission is to empower each student to achieve personal success and fulfilling that mission requires the shared commitment of our students, staff, families, and community members. 

Over my 21 years in District #7, I’ve always recognized that this district is different. We are not perfect, and like every school district, we have areas where we can continue to grow. We remain focused on identifying those opportunities and dedicating the resources needed to address them. What truly sets District #7 apart is our collective expectation of excellence, and this community’s unwavering willingness to support the work required to achieve it. 

Inside our 13 buildings, you can see, hear, and feel educators pouring their hearts into our students. From principals and teachers to secretaries, related service staff, custodians, and cafeteria staff, every member of our team is committed to giving their best so that each student in District #7 has the skills they need to succeed. 

You will also see our students rising to the challenge, taking ownership of their learning. They are extraordinary young people who, while learning from mistakes, consistently make us proud.  

Finally, our community’s commitment to excellence is one of our greatest strengths. Your willingness to provide the support and resources needed to help our students and staff thrive makes all the difference. When you combine dedicated educators, growth-minded students, and a community devoted to our shared mission, we have something exceptional. For that, and for all of you, I am sincerely grateful.
