Dr. Allen Duncan, Jr., Interim Superintendent The Edwardsville Community Unit School District #7 Board of Education unanimously approved the appointment of Dr. Allen Duncan Jr. as Interim Superintendent during its monthly work session on Monday, Jan. 12. Duncan has been serving as Acting Superintendent since September 25, 2025.
Duncan has spent his entire career in District #7 and was recently the assistant superintendent, a role he held since July 2024. He was previously the principal of Liberty Middle School for four years after serving as assistant principal there for five years. He began his career as a social studies teacher at Edwardsville High School.
In 2022, Duncan was recognized as the Illinois Principals Association Southwest Region Middle School Principal of the Year.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in education from Illinois State University and master’s, specialist and doctoral degrees in education from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
