Dr. Allen Duncan, Jr. Superintendent
Dr. Allen Duncan Jr. is in his first year serving as superintendent of Edwardsville Community Unit School District 7. Duncan previously served as interim superintendent beginning January 12, 2026, after serving as acting superintendent since September 25, 2025.
Dr. Duncan brings deep institutional knowledge and a strong commitment to District 7 and the Edwardsville community. He has spent his entire professional career serving District 7, most recently as assistant superintendent, a role he assumed in July 2024. Prior to joining the district’s administrative team, Duncan served as principal of Liberty Middle School for four years after five years as assistant principal. He began his career in District 7 as a social studies teacher at Edwardsville High School.
In 2022, Duncan was recognized as the Illinois Principals Association Southwest Region Middle School Principal of the Year.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in education from Illinois State University and master’s, specialist and doctoral degrees in education from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
