Superintendent's Student Advisory

The Superintendent’s Student Advisory Team is a group of EHS students who share feedback, experiences, and perspectives on district practices, educational programming, and school culture to help share conversations to improve the overall school experience. These students meet regularly with the Superintendent and participate in ambassadorial events within their school, the district, and the community. 

Meet the 2025-26 Superintendent's Student Advisory Team

Malak Amer, President
I am Malak Amer and I am the president of the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Team. I joined this team because I think student representation in decision making is very important to the success of our district, and I would like to voice the student point of view regarding things about our schools.  I am involved in many extracurriculars including, Educate, Announcements Crew, Spanish Honor Society, Care Closet, Ethics Bowl, HOSA, and Chess Club. Some of my hobbies are reading, chess, and table tennis.  I am trilingual and enjoy studying all kinds of different academics.  In the future, I would like to become a surgeon, and I would also like to help people facing difficulties around the world.

Aubri Hollis, Vice-President
My name is Aubri Hollis and I am thrilled to be Vice President of the Student Advisory Board! I am a senior in high school and this is my third year on the board. I love being involved here. I also participate in Varsity field hockey, am president of the Future Teachers Club, and am involved in Chamber Choir. I am looking forward to the opportunity to encourage and advocate for the Edwardsville High School student body this year.

Cate Dorsey, Secretary 
My name is Cate Dorsey, and I am a junior at Edwardsville High School. I am excited to serve my second year on the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Board as the secretary. Outside of the Student Advisory Board, I am also involved in many clubs at EHS and in our community. I am actively involved in our performing arts department as the secretary of the Tri-M Music Honor Society, a member of the International Thespian Society, and one of the Junior Representatives for the EHS Drama Club. At EHS, I am also a member of the French Club and the French Honor Society. Outside of school, I work with local youth by helping coach the St. Boniface 7th grade girls’ basketball team and by being a counselor at Camp Ondessonk. While participating in this group I look forward to introducing new ideas and perspectives to help promote positive change in the school district. 

Aurora Wilhelm, Event CoordinatorAurora Wilhelm is a senior at Edwardsville High School. She is a member of several honor societies including NHS, SNHS, and FHS. Aurora holds leadership positions in Key Club (Secretary) and Pickleball Club (President).  She is a member of Cards for Hospitalized Kids, HOSA, French Club and Drama Club, earning International Thespian Society membership her freshman year. Aurora is serving on the Superintendent Student Advisory Board to positively amplify voices of peers while providing insights and feedback to administrators. She hopes to gain experience in leadership and teamwork. Upon graduation, Aurora plans to pursue a career in radiology.

Sophia Antonini
My name is Sophie Antonini and I am a sophomore. I am very excited to be a new member of the Superintendent's Advisory Board! During my time at EHS, I have competed on the varsity softball team and volunteered as a student helper for the Lincoln and Liberty softball teams. I am currently participating in Debate Club, Ethics Bowl and Peer-Mediated Instruction and Intervention. Outside of school, I have played select softball for 9 years and had the opportunity to compete all over America. In my free time I have played electric guitar for 4 years in a rock band that performs regularly at Edwardsville community events such as the Halloween parade as well as private shows. I also play guitar for my church whenever possible and participate in youth group. I would like to help all students at EHS, especially those who feel unheard or who are the targets of bullying. EHS should be a welcoming place where all voices are represented. I am honored to advocate for our student body and to find ways to improve everyone’s experience at EHS this year!

Schaefer Bates
Hi my name is Schaefer Bates and I’m an 11th grader at Edwardsville High School. Some of the many activities that I participate in at the High School include Key Club, Care Closet, and Boys Varsity Tennis. I also coach tennis and work with people with special needs for tennis. This is my first year as a member of the Student advisory board and I’m looking for the opportunity to help our schools grow and succeed.

Allison Beck
Allie Beck is a sophomore at Edwardsville High School. She is committed to student leadership and maintaining academic excellence while putting forth her best effort to make a positive impact on District #7. She hopes to use her voice to represent her peers and connect student leadership and the student body more closely in order to create meaningful change. Her future goals include studying political science, pursuing a career in law, and eventually running for public office. She has always been motivated by a strong desire to advocate for the unheard and to ensure that every student feels seen and valued.

Emma Birkenmeyer
My name is Emma Birkenmeyer, I’m in 12th grade, and this is my second year on the Student Advisory Board. I am the EHS girls’ varsity flag football team captain and I play girls’ varsity soccer. Alongside that, I also represent many clubs at EHS, I am the senior representative for the Mind Matters Club, vice president for Business Professionals of America, member of Key Club, member of NHS, and member of NEHS. I also volunteer in Peer Mediated Intervention & Instruction and Unified Basketball at EHS. Outside of EHS I play club soccer, work as a soccer referee, and am on the junior board for Neighbors in Need. I plan to major in real estate and minor in special education at an east coast school next fall. In the future, I want to assist adults with special needs in housing and living. I am excited to continue to make a difference in our district!

Ella Carter
My Name is Ella Carter. I am in the EHS graduating class of 2026. I’m involved in drama club where I am a member of Thespian troupe 1534, choir, Tri-M Music Honor Society, Spanish Club, Spanish Honor Society, Peer Buddies, Veda’s Care Closet, Bel Canto, and I am the vocalist for a teen jazz band called “The Standards”. I joined the District 7 Student Advisory Board because I am interested in making the schools in our district the best possible environments for students of every grade level. I want to hear what ideas, feelings, or emotions students have about their school and be able to make their ideas a reality in some form. I strive to make sure every student wants to come to school, whether that be because of the environment, extra curriculars, or an interesting project in class. My hope is that my position on this committee will enhance communication between students, staff, the Board of Education, and the community.


 

Darby Christian
My name is Darby Christian, and I am a sophomore. I am looking forward to my first year as a member of the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Board! At school, I play golf and am a member of Ethics Bowl, Creative Writing Club, and Tri-M Music Honors Society. I play the cello in the school’s orchestra as well. Outside of school, I love learning languages, playing guitar, and reading. Eventually I would like to get a job in academia. I joined this team because I believe every student’s voice should be heard and everyone should be advocated for. My goal is to make school a safe place for everyone to learn and have fun. 


 

Katherine Conklin
My name is Katherine Conklin; I am a junior at the high school. I am a percussion section leader in the marching band. I am also a co-president of the ASL club. This is my second year on the Student Advisory team, and this is my third year in District 7. I hope I can bring a fresh perspective to the district since I have only been in the district for my high school education.

Antonella DeAvila

Antonella De Avila 
Antonella De Avila is a senior at Edwardsville High School. This is her second year serving on the student advisory team and hopes to establish a positive impact among her fellow classmates and other students. Antonella is involved in many clubs at the high school including Tiger Talk, National Spanish Honors Society, National English Honor Society, National Honor Society, and president of Spanish Club. She is also involved in cross country in the fall and dances outside of school. She hopes to establish a diversity among students and to help students voice their opinion and help them to be confident in their actions. Antonella is excited to learn more about the student body and be on the Advisory Team.

Mia Diltz

Mia Diltz
My name is Mia Diltz, and I am a junior at EHS. This is my first year serving on the Student Advisory Board, and I am very excited! I am the JV field hockey team captain, a part of orchestra, Tri-M National Honors Society, Spanish National Honors Society, debate club, Tiger Talk Podcasting, and an officer for Interact Club. I enjoy volunteering at Partners 4 Pets and Metro Community Church. With all these activities, I hope to bring widespread ideas to the board’s meetings. In the future, I hope to become a lawyer. I am ready for this school year to allow everyone’s voices to be heard and acted upon by this board!

Rheece Garavalia
My name is Rheece Garavalia, I am a junior at EHS, and this is my first year on the Student Advisory Board. I am involved in many different extracurricular activities. I am in band where I am a section leader, and I currently sit as first-chair trombone. I recently placed 14th internationally at the Drum Corps Internation World Championships with the Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps after touring around the country for the entire month of July. Additionally, I serve as officer in the Robotics club. My other activities include Tri-M Music Honors Society and Pit Orchestra, Yearbook Staff, and I plan to start Business Professionals of America this year. I cannot wait to provide my unique perspectives and help out District 7!

Kaylee Hauschild
My name is Kaylee Hauschild, and I am a Junior at Edwardsville High School. I am involved in multiple extracurricular activities, including Girls Basketball, Unified Track and Field, Unified Basketball, Key Club, Peer Buddies, and Tiger Teachers of Tomorrow. I am also the Huddle Leader of Edwardsville FCA. In my free time I like to explore nature. I look forward to being able to represent the student body as a member of the Student Advisory Team!

Andrew McKey
My name is Andrew McKey and I am currently a senior at Edwardsville High School. While at EHS I have been a member of Business Professionals of America, Honor Societies, and play baseball for the Tigers. When I'm not at school I enjoy golfing and watching sports. I look forward to working with Dr. Shelton and the rest of the Student Advisory Team to discuss concerns within our school and also celebrate our successes.

Josie Proctor
My name is Josie Proctor. I am a senior at EHS. I am involved in many things throughout school. I am the President of Student Council, class historian for Class of 2026, and I am an active member in clubs such as Key Club, NHS, NEHS, SNHS and Spanish Honor Society. I am honored to be a part of the advisory team as the student representative for the District 7 Board of Education, and I believe that I can bring a lot of different outlooks to this team. It’s very important to me that there is a strong connection between administrators and students!

Norah Starbuck

My name is Norah Starbuck, I'm a sophomore, and this is my first year on the student advisory board. I am involved in Bel Canto, Creative Writing Club, Tri-M Music Honor Society, and American Sign Language Club. I have been learning American Sign Language for over 3 years and with being on student advisory, I aim to help represent my peers and make their voices heard.

Liv Warner
Liv Warner is a Senior at Edwardsville High School! This is Liv's first year on the advisory board, and she cannot wait to make this school an even better place than it already is! Some extracurriculars Liv is involved in are Student Council, Bel Canto, National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, National English Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, Tri-M Music Honor Society, and she is the Vice President of EHS Drama Club! Some other hobbies Liv enjoys are baking, reading, writing poetry, and discovering new coffee shops with my family! She is looking forward to working with this amazing group of leaders, and she hopes to better the overall vibe of the school by making high school a place that people look forward to coming to ever day! After graduation Liv is hoping to pursue a career in Zoology.
